AS MUSICIANS, HOW DO YOU THINK THE FASHION INDUSTRY RELATES WITH MUSIC IN GENERAL?

Kilian: I think fashion and music are both related. They reflect who we are; it's the expression of our time.
The fashion industry is influenced by the music industry and vice versa. If you take a look at it, every kind of music comes with a specific way of wearing clothes.
Artists wear clothes that fit with their visions... People like it, try to do the same, and the next thing you know, it creates a whole new movement of society.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCE(S) AND SIMILARITY(IES) BETWEEN MEN'S FASHION IN NEW YORK AND PARIS?

Kilian & Stéphane: Men’s fashion is pretty much the same between the two cities - New York and Paris are both big cities from the Western countries. Paris is the capital of the fashion industry, and New York is one of the most European cities in the US. America was created by Europeans, and Europe is extremely influenced by the US today, in terms of economy, politics, music, movies, fashion, food…
So, yes, there are a lot of similarities, especially because Parisiens want to look like New Yorkers, and most of the people in New York are looking for French brands, “couture” and European styles.
But still, there will always be a slight difference between both cultures. For example, in New York the cut of the cloth is larger and less aesthetic than in Paris. People wear whatever they feel good about and mix all kinds of different outfits, due to the multi-cultural influences of the city. In Paris, there are only a few different styles; the cut of the cloth is fitted, slimmer, and people have a specific interest in looking good at all time.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR CURRENT FASHION OBSESSIONS?

Stéphane: Some current fashion obsessions would be to not have the same clothes as everyone else, so to speak. Find something that defines yourself, that I feel good about. For example, I love to mix pieces from different designers. It could be a suit jacket with a long t-shirt, skinny jeans and some sneakers, or a shirt with leather pants and colored shoes. The goal is to find your own balance and feel comfortable with 😉
